I think I will try and liquidate some of my lower valued inventory and am wondering if it is even worth trying to do so anymore. I heard there was some big changes in ebay.

I just started to post some coins on ebay this weekend. I haven't sold on ebay in years. They nickel and dime you to death. I have just put up about 40 coins, so I have been busy this weekend.

There is one thing that has changed that has affected me...... in the section where you are supposed to write a description of your produce, you used to be able to get creative with different fonts and sizes and colors. It was very basic stuff, but at least you can get somewhat creative. Now all you can do is UPPERCASE or lower case. Also you can space between words, but you can tab down or create separate paragraphs. It all runs into each other. I even did some fancy stuff over on clipboard and went to cut and paste on ebay and it will let you do it, but it takes out any font or color changes that you make. To say the least, I was so ****ed!!!! I guess they want you to use their template company so they can make more money off of you.

If there is a way to get around this without having to use their templates, please share, because I would like to know.

I wish there was a better way to sell individual coins online. I have done it before on this site but so much detail can be lost if you try to list several and you can only do one listing per week also it doesn't quite get the exposure as ebay does.

It has been slow on eBay. but I think things are selling & they all want the lowest cost they can find.

Yeah, I keep on saying that I'm going to sell some coins on ebay but never get around to it. I don't know if it's worth the trouble, expense and loss of coins to bother. But then again, I've got so many coins I haven't looked at since I bought them maybe I should liquidate some. Maybe I should just shut up and do it.

You guys just made an enemy of me. I am an ebay hater. I know that there are many people that have little other sources for coins so they are forced to use ebay. Not me. :smile
Just kind of kidding. Hope you do OK. Let us all know if you get rich doing this. Good Luck.

I hate them too, but right now, they are the lesser of all evils. I don't hope to get rich, just make enough money to pay for that gold buff that I have been wanting.

Have you considered selling drugs? Getting together with a bunch of us older coin fanatics and robbing a bank?
Ever hear about how much some make just standing on busy corners asking for money? Thing on the TV one time where they interviewed some of those street beggars. One stated he made as much as $500/day as he got into his brand new car and drove off.

Personally, I haven't had that problem. Maybe I don't understand exactly what you're doing. I'm doing pretty basic stuff in Word then pasting into the Description area; it always retains fonts, sizes, and colors.

This is very true, I used to be Plant Manager for a manufacturing facility that employed approx. 120 people. I was driving down the road one day and saw a guy on the corner with a will work for food sign. I pulled over and gave him my card and told him to come to the plant the following day and I would give him an entry level position that paid $8.00 hr. (several years ago). He worked 2 days and told the guys he could make more money on his corner and walked out!!!!:headbang:

postage always seems like the biggest hassle with selling on Ebay.

eBay is a handful but man!, are those shipping fees nasty! I'm not a fan of eBay's shipping cost limits they give for a chosen shipping rate/service. They're way too low, especially for international destinations. I think it's the shipping costs which have begun to scare off a lot of buyers as it's just not worth it to bid or BIN such items. Offering free shipping with S/H costs worked into your item costs doesn't work well for the seller either as it prohibits selling low dollar items. This is underscored with Insurance on low cost items. You might as well just reimburse and loose your item on something under USD$15. It's unfortunate that a large sector of buyers of small priced items has been/is being lost and not every seller has high value items or volumes to sell to make it worth the effort and expense. That said, sales of coins of almost any kind, always move well even during these economic times. I don't expect things to be free but eBay does also seem like the lesser of evils in secondary market sales for e-commerce, individual sellers. Generally speaking, I think the company's recent stock performance tells a lot about the eBay communities sentiments towards them despite needing to deal with the service, policy and ever (d)evolving changes.

HA, that's nothing. Many years ago I was layed off from a place. Went to the unemployment place and got there really early so started talking to a guy that got there early too. He drove up in a brand new Caddy, had on a suite that looked like at least $500. Watches and rings that also looked worth almost robbbing him for. We talked and he told me he could not AFFORD to go to work. He is shown by an organization, won't say the name since it may be considered racial, how to apply for Unimployment, relief, and many, many other such places. He collects so much money he said, he just could not afford to work. We got started talking because he was flipping a Silver Dollar and he told me he too goes to all the coin shows in the area. Has to do something with all his money.
At one place I worked, what you said happened there too. Someone started and didn't even last to Lunch time. As he walked out he told people a similar thing about how he could make more money not working.

    Pay up Pal

The thing I dislike about selling on eBay is that you are forced to use paypal.
There goes 3 percent and 3 percent of shipping costs too.
I always encourage sellers to try posting here first in the open section.

Not tomention the set fee paypal has on top of the percentage.

I wish we were allowed to post more than once a week on here.
I guess I could make a list of everything I wish to sell and give out scans on an individual basis.
