    Boy, informative AND entertaining...

I'm enjoying the Mea Culpa/stream-of-consciousness "Tete-a-Tete" in this thread.

Reminds me of "Married With Children" re-runs with a lotta info sprinkled in it.

All I need now is some popcorn.

I use to sell on e-bay, One of there biggest mistakes was giving all the
Power to the buyer, Not being able to leave neutral or negative feedback
For the buyer is the biggest loser!! Seller has lost all his power and money
    As well!!

There 3 sides in any conflict the right side & the wrong side and the one that is the truth :kewl:

    Always three sides, huh?

I look at this kinda situation in a somewhat different fashion.

Sure, the truth about a lot of conflicts is the facts [truth] never seem to be totally lodged on only one side of the argument.

But instead of looking at it being "three sides" like a triangle, I see this matter as presenting more like three points on a straight line. (Having an undergraduate degree in mathematics may be the cause of that).

In this case, the "preponderence of evidence" [truth] provided by the OP himself, coupled with the eBay auction facts, and the coup de grace thread found by fretboard re: booted off of PCGS (good catch, fretboard) puts the truth of the matter in a position that allows reasonable men to reach a univeral conclusion:

Yeah, this was a "rip" of a deal; a rip off of both eBay who was screwed outta its rightful final auction fees AND the winning bidder who was screwed outta his fairly won auction item.

In this case the ultimate truth is not relative. The truth may slide along that straight line of "right vs. wrong" but it will come to rest more on one side than the other.

And responsible people know which side when they see it.

    Well beyond a reasonable doubt.

In this case of questionable ethics, it's skewed way, way off to the "wrong" side.

This was just plain old wrong.

    Stinko wrong.

'Sides...I like to call 'em as I see 'em.

Very interesting thread (no offense to the involved parties for my detached spectatorship!)

Was this illegal? To the letter of the law... no, probably not. I suppose what I mean is, in a court of law a defense attorney could probably defend this.

Was it sleazy? Absolutely. Indefensibly so. 'Right and wrong' and 'Legal or illegal' don't always overlap. The high bidder got pimped and Ebay got pimped. Love the negative feedback too -- that just sort of puts the icing on the cake.

    wrongo, mon ami...

It's clearly in violation of contract and commerce laws that govern auctions conducted via interstate commerce instrumentalities.

    3 sided 's
I was just repeating what an old 1stSGT told my Army unit back in 1968.

I thought most 1st Sargents said...

    "There's only ONE way...and that's MY way."

    And the ONLY answer was:

    "Yes, 1st Sargent!"

    :p

    I hate first sergeants.

At the very least the seller and anyone causing an ongoing auction to end privately, outside of ebay, could be banned from ebay for violating ebays policy. If anyone knows their ebay identity and cares to report them.

I have great respect for 1st Sargents, Gunnies...

...and anyone who had more than a few stripes on his sleeve.

Although I was an AF C-130 pilot, many many times I heard the Flight Engineer (many stripes) say:

"Well I'll tell you, Lt/Capt 'Bartelmoose'..."

And I learned to humbily & respectfully listen.

I guess what I mean is, if it were brought to court, there's enough 'gray area' in this to prevent any sort of conviction. It's the sort of area that dirtbags make their money in.

Does anyone else find it incongruous that the Ebay rule sticklers who derive so much pleasure in deriding me here are themselves violating the very rules of this forum:

2 – Personal attacks are not permitted. All Coin Talk members, young, old and in between, will treat all other members with respect and be civil at all times. You are expected to act as responsible individuals, there will be no name calling or flame wars

Hmmmm, I guess that makes them bad people (rhymes with looks) by their own terms!

Moderators, where are you?? These rule infractions warrant harsh sanctions IMO.

When you show respect to members of this forum, part of the idea is that you are honest!! That MBT is were you may have fallen short. :eek:hya:
