Hello all, I recently sold this 1928-D Lincoln as red, very noticeable in hand and in the pictures. The gentlemen says the coin is great strike but believe that this coin has been dipped and polished because it does not have the cartwheel affect under light and that means that it’s not a true red coin, and has been cleaned or dipped. I am not sure about this as I don’t know enough about red coins. I could be wrong but I don’t believe this coin to be dipped because if I’m not mistaken the chemicals don’t bind the best with copper and it will be very obvious the coin was dipped. I will add pictures, please let me know what you all think and if I’m wrong, thanks all! Good to be back also cointalk was down since yesterday for me!
Can you explain why you think this? I don’t see signs like other dipped pennies they get very abstract colors.
I will re list it! Haha just need to know if I should keep the word red in the listing or scratch it. I guess it’s not a big deal it’s obvious the color just mainly wanted to see what everyone thought
Yea they are pretty “distracting”. I feel like you could send it into PCGS to fix that up if you were serious enough about it?
