This coin has letters stamped into the rim on the obverse and is sliced on the reverse. The north edge of the cut is serrated the other edge and the bottom of the cut are smooth. On the obverse above the cut is what I call a starburst effect in the lamination.

    Thanks in advance

With the pics provided PMD. In the first pic it looks like it was pressed into another coin.

Yes I think it is PMD just curious about how it occurred I have another cent with a cut both sides and have been comparing the two. Coin #2 looks like it could have been cut with metal snips through the rim into the edge, the cuts are smooth. The coin I'm showing is cut only on the reverse producing a buldge on the obverse and the cuts are ( after examining through my microscope) serrated on both sides of the cut. The cut goes through the rim going halfway through the edge making a mass of metal on the edge of the coin.

The letters could be contact marks perhaps from an E in amErica or cEnt, think I might see a d but not sure. Perhaps two events occured on this coin at different times?

Anyway if I'm posting on the wrong thread please let me know.
