Thought these showed an interesting transitional period in Japanese coinage. When the mon currency was abandoned, the old currency still circulated for a while at a discounted rate, at about 1 mon = 1 or 1/2 rin. Silver was still worth metal value or more. One of these days I would like to make a similar set to this. All I have is this panoramic of various Pre-Meiji pieces alongside a round one. I need to update it.
This was my first set of Japanese Meiji silver: If I recall correctly, it was 12,000yen (about $110 USD / 93 EUR), which I thought was pretty good. Two from year 28 (1895) and two from year 32 (1899)
