This is the first show being held at the Old San Francisco Mint Building. I'll be setting up there, and I know Rick Snow will be as well. Anyone going? I wish, if for no other reason just to see the inside of the old mint. Can't justify the time off or the 12 hour drive, though. Guy~
I'd love to go also, but my commute would be a bear, and Green18's would be longer than mine. :smile It's only been about 40 years since I last saw that building......
I'm planning on going on Friday. I used to live in S.F. and am familiar with the Mint location. I'll be sure to drop by your table. Bruce
The only way I'll go is if someone is willing to get me those 1870-S coins that were put in the cornerstone of the San Francisco Mint building All I really need is the 1870-S $3 gold and the 1870-S Half Dime You guys can keep the rest of the coins in there, unless there is a unique 1870-S Quarter which is rumored to be in the cornerstone. We can flip the quarter to see who can keep that one
Carl, there is life on the other side of the Rockies! But sorry, can't pay for your flight because I'm not even flying myself - I'm doing the 7 hr. drive. So guess you'll have to miss this very unique and "historical" show!
I'd love to be there, but the wife just picked the last twenty off of the money tree. I'll have to wait until it blooms in the spring again.
What a fabulous venue for a coin show ! How many tables ? Does anyone do a show at the old Carson City mint building ? Is that building still standing ? How 'bout New Orleans, Dahlonega, and Charlotte ?
Hey Ricky, I don't know about any shows at other mints, but this one has about 40 tables, with about 30 different dealers signed up (several of whom are taking 2 tables, like me)
I'm looking forward to the Sf Mint tour and video presentation along with checking out some coins to buy. Bruce
I will sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo be there, if you buy me a plane ticket and hotel room from VA and for at least 3 nights :hail::hail::hail: lol I wish I could attend
I know the Nevada State show used to be held at the Carson City Mint. The CC and New Orleans mint buildings are still standing, one of the other two is still standing, the other one burned down and then was rebuilt upon its original foundations and I believe is now used as one of the buildings of a college. I believe the only former mint building no longer around a r ethe first and second Philadelphia mints and the first San Francisco Mint. The origianl Clark Gruber building originally bought and planned for use as the Denver mint is also gone, but it was never used as a mint. The Mint building built for the The Dalles Mint in Oregon is also still standing.
Just now heading out to the SF show, so thought I'd give this thread one last bump! Hope to see some of you there!!
