I gave him one last year. It was an easy 64-red, thats when I tried to show him how to use a loupe. He tried to use it, then called it BS. I have to give up on him. I'm a bullheaded taurus, but he takes the cake.

Well...he's finding coins he likes and is enjoying himself. I guess that meets the broadest definition of a Coin Collector. If he's just putting on a show, he'll lose interest and move on to something else.

Are you concerned that he'll lose money or that he's pretending to be something that he's not? I gotta say, if he has a PCGS 1953-S MS66FBL Franklin...I don't care what he knows...I'm impressed!

At first I was exited for him, then I caught on quik that he has no intention of learning a damn thing about coins. Somedays he acts interested as hell, then just like a light switch he'll laugh at something at any research that has been done. I don't care if he spends his money, its his. I don't think he has much use for the science behind different things.

Well find a "Coin World" tell him about one of the articles that mentions some good investment buys. Then let him read it - when he is done, then and only then ask him - how did his research go? :) Other than that - ignore him and just enjoy the hobby. Have fun!
