http://i585.photobucket.com/albums/ss294/jaymag22/1935GStar.jpgFirst off, I know the answer, but i'm wondering how many others can tell me, why this note is worth is worth $2300. http://i585.photobucket.com/albums/ss294/jaymag22/1935GStar.jpg The more I learn about paper collecting the more I love it!
is it because the lower left star is out of alignment? Do they call that a twinkle? Nah- that's sounds too weird. Anyway that's my guess.
2nd link in first post blows up large. I guess IDK enough about $1 currency. Maybe Fr 1617 graded perfect?
Actually that is it, Resu Eman, I'll be damned if I can get a bigger pic, but this is called an inverted star Graded 65 and sold at Heritage for $2300,
Never seen one of those, Though i have several "Red Seal" $2 Stars is This only on the Blue Seal notes??
It seems there was a short run of 1935G star SC's, Fr.1617 w/motto that were printed with the lower left star that was inverted (5 pointed star with point at the bottom). I guess it was a case of the replacement note should have been replaced. Apparently not too many survived and they attract good money.
Specifically, it's plate position H of all three print runs of the 1935G-with-motto stars. That is, the error affects serial numbers *19220001G - *19240000G *19580001G - *19600000G *19940001G - *19960000G or 60,000 notes in all. (That way you can cherrypick them on Ebay even if the image *is* too small/fuzzy to see the error.... )
Hey folks, I came across someone selling an inverted star. It's in Very Good to Fine condition. I can't find any values on this note except for one or two on heritage in high grade. What would you guys say such a note is worth in todays market? Thanks!
