I've been going through my coin collection and have 3 small boys and a wife. Well, I was sorting dimes a while back and took my 1982 no P out of a 2x2 to put it into a new 2x2 and got called away so I sat it on top of the dryer. Normally nothing would have ever been done to it and I never normally do that but here's where I screw up. A day later I had forgotten about it. my wife was looking for some change to go get some coffee. She asks if the dime on the dryer was anything. I of course say no. So somewhere in KC there is a damn good looking 1982 no P Roosevelt dime in circulation.

Maybe this didn't fit in here exactly. Anyone else done anything this, well, stupid?

A horrible way to lose it. Better start getting rolls from the local bank.
    And welcome to the forum.

In my town of 120k (a suburb of KC w/ around 2.5 million in the metro area), I'm all but screwed. I went and picked up 500.00 in dimes as soon as I figured it out. I went to several branches of different banks. They thought I was insane, which isn't much of a stretch.

The crappy part is this was a coin my later father left me. Live and learn.

Yeah I did so join the club. I had a Connecticut statehood quarter with 180 degree die rotation. Also a Montana with 45 degree ccw die rotation. Well, this kills me, I trade state quarters with people all over the USA and I must have included them in a trade. I used to check on them every day and one day they were gone. That was about nine months ago. There is one Conn. 180 degree listed in the rotated die census. I wonder if that's the one?? :desk::desk:

I sold an 1891-CC morgan au-55 for $15. Done it on purpose too. They're just coins, you'll find another...

I am now totally morganless. I sold 30 morgans at once, $15 each. Most were au-55 to ms-62. Only 5 were G-VG. Why? I collect sm. cents...

At 15 bucks a piece you ask why. I like Morgan's.

    That's cruel Dagg.

The story got me thinking of some of my past misadventures via distraction and have yet to recall anything to outdo it.

Then again maybe all that therapy and ECT was helpful with me not staying in the past too long.

I hope it was a really GOOD cup of coffee.

Ouch! Now there's an Error! What goes around comes around though, so hopefully you'll be rewarded someday for making whoever found that dime very happy.

Find out where your wife buys coffee and then find out what bank they use and start buying rolls of dimes there. the chances are greater they deposited the dime than handed it out in change.
