Here's the thing...kinda in a dilemma. The set I received today is actually the second set that ordered. The reason that I got it before my first order was because I placed my first order along with all my mint sets and other items that I needed. My dilemma is this....do I open the box now or do I wait for my first set to come in since I have to open that box anyway for all my other coins and just save this set in the original unopened box for possible resale down the road? What do you think?

    Open open oooooopen!

They are not sealed inside the box. Just in a white cardstock slip cover.

I guess I'd wait if it is only going to be a couple weeks. If it looks like it is going to be longer than that I would open them now.

Some people like the fact that the item is unopened in the original box that it was shipped in. I am just thinking about it as an ....dare I say it! Gasp!!.....investment years down the road. Since my second set is set to arrive any day now, I am not in a rush.... but I am starting to get a little anxious. :eat:

I will have the second set by weeks end.

I think it's dangerous to leave coins locked up inside cardboard boxes with no silica in there... seriously. I'm not sure of the moisture the cardboard will attract over time and the acids in cardboard boxes are nasty for all kind of other materials as they leach out acids within the pulp. I'd hate for a generation of coins to be cracked open from their time capsules someday with unwanted tone or something all over them, and holders having changed color or dry rotted. Just some things to think about.

Alrighty, mine is in Houston now... Should be getting here tomorrow, then I gotta ship it out to my buyer.
Man, I won't even get to see mine in hand.. (But that is probably best, because that Lincoln dollar is butt ugly!) :D

Got mine today, opened it and looked at it, then boxed it up to send to the person who paid for both of mine. My other set shipped yesterday so I should get it next week. The set looked pretty good overall. Without looking too close I thought I saw some marks in the fields, but it is already sold anyway. Hope the next one is better.

Just getting back into things after a vacation trip. Good to hear about the deliveries. I had one set waiting for me when I got back. No spots, nice clean coins. Two more awaiting delivery from friends.

Got my first and it is beautiful! No spots at all.

One question......the coins were in there really tight, and I wanted to look at the reverse of the dollar. Anyone know a good way? I don't want to damage the packaging, and it seems if I put a thin knife in there to pry it out, it might damage it. Anyone do this?

STOP-- don't force it with a knife!!!

press down on the capsule at the 6 oclock position, there is a hollow space under the coin, the top edge will lift out of the holder and you can hold and see the coin in hand that way, encapsulated. all the cents do this too. yes the coins are a tight fit in the holder at first but it will slide out with a little pressure applied in the right spot.

Yeah the pennies look so good in this set that I am even starting to like the butt ug dollar. It's kinda like when you hear a song and you don't like it at first but then it grows on ya'. :D Anyways, that's how it works for me. :hail:
