Please...please...please, help! I bought an ancient Greek? coin for $20 at an coin shop but I haven't been able to identify its exact origin. Also, I found a coin? / token that says 25 Fr. Perhaps it's just a token, but the denomination and the letters "Fr (Francs?)" arises my curiosity. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hummm... Unfortunately I don't have a scale nor a ruler at hand, but the Greek coin is about the same of a US dime and the 25 FR token similar to a quarter. Would that help? Sorry about that.

Yes, Athens. Like most ancient coins, we don't know the name of the denomination and simply categorize it by size, in this case AE2 (bronze, 2nd size). It is from sometime near 190 and precisely 183 BC. The dating was established by the careful excavations of the Agora at Athens over the past century. In fact, Kroll is Vol XXVI of the American School at Athens site reports, dedicated to the Greek coins.
I don't know much about ancient coins, but this was very enlightening. I wouldn't image that there is no common denomination for this type. Thanks again!
