Hi guys , I bought 44 Silver coins the other day for about 80 cents each. some of these coins turned out to be some key dates. For exemple I got a 1893 3 pence from GB also a 1892 south African 6 pence. All these pieces are pretty worn , some also have mounting marks.

    Here is the Sen.

    Meiji 27 (1894), Y#23, 2.6957g .800 silver, .0693g ASW.

I would grade it VF detail, but IMHO the slightly damaged rim adjacent to the character 日 in the country name would drop the value to $4.50-5, a tad below the F value of $6 in the SCWC.

It should be pointed out that this legend is in the traditional Japanese form, to be read right to left:
    • 年 七 十 二 治 明
    • nen nana ju ni Ji Mei
    • read as: Regnal name 2 x 10 + 7 year
