I was delivered a fake nickel yesterday off of the fleabay. I've already contacted the seller and asked for a refund, he responded with an OK. Until I actually get my refund I really don't want to say much. The seller's feedback is not bad 99.8 % but I can't see how they could honestly sell this piece of krappus interruptus unless they were just trying to dump it on someone. I did not tell them it is fake yet, I just asked for a refund and said I was sending it back. What do I do next? Do I give negative feedback? or Do I give neutral feedback with a negative "fake coin seller" comment? I appreciate any response and I will post pics later. Oh, the nickel is a 1913 T1. :eating:
send it back, but inform them since it is against the law to sell replica coins unless they are clearly marked copy in a visible area that you are doing what they should have done and stamping the word copy into the coin, also let them know that passing counterfeit legal tender is still against federal law in these United states and you are sure that they only did so out of ignorance.
I appreciate your response. Except the stamping part, I'd actually like to do some stamping somewhere else and it wouldn't be on the coin. That said I think I will use part of your response. Now, when you get a refund you can still give feedback so what do I do with that? By that time I shoudn't be too angry anymore. Also I just thought of something else, I don't know that seller and even though I think he just wanted to dump it on someone else he may just have bad eye's like me. Anyone?
I would ask for a return of shipping both ways. If they agree to that, I would leave a positive feedback with a description like: 'Coin required return', and just leave it at that.
If it's obviously fake, and you couldn't tell when ordering it, I would definitely mention it to the seller and ask for all shipping charges to be returned. I hope it didn't cost a ton.
Take a look at just the negatives that have been given by looking the seller up at toolhaus.org if he's gotten negatives in the past for this very offense then neg. I see some sellers who constantly get the same negative comments from people in the know, but they bury the negatives by sheer volume. If he hasn't been negged for this in the past, then it could have been an honest mistake.
So you haven't recieved this coin, but you definately know it's a fake. How did you come to the conclusion that the coin was bogus? And if the auction was questionable, why did you bid on it in the first place?
That's my suggestion also. Eventually you'll realize that feedbacks can be faked as well as the coins. Just have lots of people you know give you positives.
No it didn't cost much only $22 dollars and change but it's very much a pain in the side getting an obvious casted coin! Just for the sake of it I even took it to a coin store today and all it took was one look. I'm gonna check this toolhaus.org and see if there's anything in there. thank you all except green18 silvrlvr= Take a look at a feedback that occured in June 2008. I don't know about asking for X2 postage or maybe I should. We'll see. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Gem, right. Misleading shadowed picture and discription. Money, then coins
Not at all, to give you an indication I bought one today at my fav coin store for $22. I guess I should have gone there in the first place, but last time I went to their second store the buffalos I looked at were really pricey. My fav store ppl sell at two different stores and I'm finding out how different their inventories really are. Still idiots are selling some cold blooded stuff on ebay and for as many coins as this person has sold I find it really hard to believe that he didn't know any better. thx
Be sure to return it with AT LEAST delivery confirmation. PayPal requires that before they will refund your money if the seller gives you a problem. As for the feedback, I have had problem coins to return and left positive feedback because I was treated so well. i.e. money back +shipping +! It depends on how you are treated.
