Amos Advantage has lots of cases from cardboard boxes to wood with felt display cases designed specifically for coin slabs..and they are fairly inexpensive...If you subscribe to one of their magazines you get a member discount..

my proofs and W unc's are left in their packages ect, and placed in the safe. My 'other' unc's go in fake slabs, and placed in the safe. Then i have 2 other 'other' unc's that are placed in flips and also stored in the safe - these 2 each year are for my kids.

I've put my most valueable coins into Ziplock bags that have a valve that allow the sucking of all the air out of the bag. Inside these bags are 10- 50 grams of silica in 10 gram packets. I put whatever coins, slabs etc. into a quart or gallon sized bag and suck the air out of it until there is none left. I feel somewhat comfortable with this set-up as I feel I'm doing the best I can to stabilize the atmosphere immediately surrounding my coins. The silica bags can be regenerated (re-dried) if the color crystals turn another color.

My slabbed coins undergo the same treatment of confinement if I think they are of any value.

The ones I keep at home in my safes also have silica packs that I can dehydrate when necessary.

These are easily bought on line and are well worth the $$s to keep your coins from exposure to heat & moisture.

Do you feel the Intercept Box without the sleeves is a good alternative to the one referenced to here?

I don't know what you mean. You'll have to post a link. The big one for mint sets is too big. I got one and cut it down. The ones in the link I posted are great. There's a viewing window on the back side of the sleeves so you can still see the label. And those boxes automatically come with the sleeves. They can help from getting a nice slab scratched up.

Some people feel it's ridiculous having a sleeve to protect the slab but a re-holder costs $10 plus the shipping if they get all scratched up. It also takes away from the coin if the slab gets screwed up IMO. These boxes keep them neat and orderly and protect them from harmful contaminants in the air.

I just keep all my ASE slabs in a NGC box. Never had any problems doing it this way.

I keep my ASEs in the same plastic rounds that they come in. Additionally if there is a case and certificate of authenticity I keep it in there. It certainly helps keep everything organized.

Any loose ones I buy plastic rounds for.

    Me too!

I put PCGS slabs in plastic PCGS boxes, NGC slabs in NGC boxes.

Loose junk silver or regular bullion in square type Coin Safe Tubes

Loose high grade coins and/or raw numismatic silver/gold in ring type AirTites

Silica and re-sealable (Ziplock type) bags when/where necessary.

Store high value items in SDB with silica/bags.

For ALL of the above: store in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture and direct light.

Also, check in on them from time to time, for enjoyment first and foremost but also to ensure materials and storage conditions haven't changed, harmed the coins or need replacing. :smile

    either boxes or 3-rings

I keep slabs in either NGC/PCGS boxes or in Eagle 3-ring pages. I mount two Eagle pages per 1/2" 3-ring binder. Both of these storage types are good fit into a 10" x 5" safe deposit box.

    Very best regards,

    Why the Switch???

I have a bunch of PCGS and NGC, but I've never seen the Intercept or if I have I didn't pay much attention to'em...

Better for some reason or just personal Pref???

Honestly I started using them because the coin shop where I buy most of my local stuff at has given me 6 or 7 of'em for free... I guess they submit so many coins that NGC or PCGS sends them back in the boxes, so they really don't have much invested in them...

Personal Pref for my best coins. The ones that I resell will go to my ngc holders. When I spend several hundred dollars on a coin I am just trying to get the best protection .
