    It's not die #7, it's not a doubled die.

It's not die #7, it's not a doubled die. It is mechanical/machine doubling very common for type. When you look at it look for the flat shelvelike doubling as if the metal has been scooted, pushed or pulled sort of like a coninuation of the central element but just smeared - that's a mechanically doubled coin.
Doubled dies have thicker secondary images and do not look like this coins type - to learn more just search forums for doubled dies.

You got to remember this is a public forum. A difference in opinion is not a war. Save your money or do a study and determine for yourself what it is. It's also educational.

No war, it just is what it is.

No war, it just is what it is.
If you send it off your best profit will be the loss of .43 cents worth of postage. Nothing personal the above advice is as good as it gets - it will never get better. Keep looking at other coins you will find some good ones before to long, I promise!

Certainly doubled dies can exhibit machine doubling but this coin is not 1DO-007 (there is no doubling on LIBERTY or IN GOD). In Fact I see no doubling on any device of the coin in question except the machine doubling on the date.

    Hi,

There shouldn't be a war. It is not a doubled die. It is machine doubled. I have most of the 1972 Doubled dies in my collection. and that one is normal. I would strongly suggest not spending any money on getting it attributed.

Some of us have the experience to attribute them with your photos as they are clear enough.....and some here just guess because they think it's a good idea to do so.

Don't spend money on their guesses.

    Thanks,
    Bill O'

Welcome to the forum! Nice pics!
Picture one as stated is MD - period.

The other pictures are not of die #7 - I have #7 (and all the others except die #4) and can post pics of it if needed.
