1982 (D) possible striking errors but most definitely i think its a DDO...... I need some advise on this coin... Does anyone agree with me on the DDO......does this have a rpm
It is severely worn through circulation etc. and the MM took a hit. The striations under the leaves, I have no idea what caused those. Wait for others
Huh? Yes I'm sure it was used a one point to pay for someone's laundry to be done. What does that have to do with the Quarter?
That's good. I had to laugh for there are people that don't understand that Die deterioration is a worn die. Lol
No.. Only Die Deterioration doubling. Nothing to do with a true Doubled Die variety that is Hub Doubling.
Whats the true difference between hub doubling and die deteriotion.....but we may not be seeing the same thing either cause I'm looking through a loupe ....but on the foot on the side the the especially in E it looks to me to be doubled but I could be wrong
If you were able to put a true doubled die next to a similar coin with DDD or MD, the difference would leap out at you. True hub doubling is as it says, the incuse part has been produced on the master hub slightly offset to it's original position and is also incused. This is transferred through the process to the die which strikes the coins. The coin then displays the doubled image on the now raised devices that were affected. This can be North, S, E, W or even slightly rotated but will be seen on all coins struck with that die until the die is maintained by polishing, abrasion etc. This makes the coin a VARIETY not an error. The doubled image on the struck coin will be raised to the height of the primary device. Here is a 1972 LMC DDO-001 that I found a couple of weeks ago that shows it very clearly on Liberty and IGWT
