She actually said she paid on the 9th (which was a Friday), so that would be around 4-5 business days to ship the item.

So depending on when it got to the post office, it could have gone out on the 16th (friday), so today would be the 5th day in transit. My guess is, if he did ship it on the 15th, it should arrive in the next few days.

    Similar situation

Hi Sasha! I too had a similar situation with shipping. I paid for my purchase promptly. The seller sent me an email with a tracking number the next day. When I did not receive the package (a mid sized padded envelope) after waiting two weeks, I checked the tracking number but there was no record of it on the USPS website. So now I am thinking something is fishy, but it was not a high dollar auction win and I just decided to wait it out some more. Sure enough the package showed up about three weeks after the seller told me he mailed it and it was postmarked the day the seller said he mailed it. So the bottom line was that it was an issue with the post office. Who knows where my package was for three weeks. It was mailed from Illinois to Maryland.

Give it some time. Hope this helps you feel a little better. :thumb:

You need to read my post - right before yours. You are probably right, but it could be the snail mail.

I completely agree. There is no reason not keep the buyer updated. There's also no excuse for not replying, as long as he has been given at least 24hrs. to respond. But then again, the whole point of eBay is so that "Joe Blow" can sell stuff. So you can't always expect the service or experience of a Coin Dealer.

You just never know. The postal service is usually pretty good, but recently I had a situation in which a package was delivered to the post office where I live in Kansas City, and then sent to Des Moines, IA. , and finally back to Kansas City for delivery to my home. It took more than a week to get the packages from the east coast of the US to KC.

Yeah, screw ups have been happening in the mail lately. I have a little bit of insider knowledge into the postal service although I do not work there. It's common knowledge that they have a budget crisis like every other agency you can name. Postal workers typically receive good salaries, especially for smaller towns but a lot is demanded of them and the carriers. More than people realize.

And like everywhere else, they're demanding more from fewer people to get things done these days. Smaller post offices have been closed so everything can be processed by computers in larger, centralized sorting facilities. The bulk of what they have to deal with is junk mail.

And the companies sending the junk mail pay the least because they have lobbyists in Washington ensuring that a huge flyer can be sent in the mail for 3 cents. While the rest of us actually, sending something important, pay increasingly more for stamps on small envelopes.

I had a package coming 2 day last month. It had some live, hardier coral in it for my tank. Was looking forward to receiving it. It eventually arrived on a Friday on a cool day when I didn't get home until 6 p.m.

Needless to say, the stuff didn't make it and I was out 50 bucks with nothing to show for it. After tracking the order, it said it was "missent" and back-tracked to a sorting facility. An entire day of shipping was wasted.
As time goes on, you can expect to pay more at the post office for poorer service with more instances of problems. They're not hiring people to help the situation. They are laying people off.

The postmaster at ours in town doesn't even allow them to keep the place adequately temperature controlled in order to save money. They're in bad shape.

Yes, so far I've had really good luck with my purchases. Communication is the key, I've had several ppl contact me and give me a hard luck story. Daughter had her water break in the middle of the night and out popped the baby. :D Ok, maybe nothing that elaborate!! I don't know if the stories are true and it really doesn't matter. At least those sellers contacted me and that's the bottom line. If the seller don't go along with the program then they deserve a negative. I feel after a seller reaches a certain plateau, some seem to get a bit snooty and think theirs don't stink anymore. Ok, I've said enough, time for chow!! :D

    Miss S,
Give em' a little more time or an opportunity to make it right and if he don't. Book em' Dano!! :D

I'm new here and am learning this CAN be the norm in a lot of cases. I totally air your concerns though. Overall the site is not usually like this.

I have a question for the OP. What were the shipping terms stated in the auction? 1st class? Priority post? Also was there an expected time-frame listed, e.g., ships within 3-5 business days etc? I don't want to hold a seller to higher standards than he may have possibly laid out right there in the auction.

Some times paypal payments do not automaticly show up on a sellers side, I know I have had that as both a seller and a buyer, the seller might not have been home when payment was made, again it happens. Then if he/she only goes to the post office once a week more delay (They did say ship within 5 days of payment I believe) Then you have the postal system itself anyone here want to claim it's perfect LOL I had a letter take 3 weeks to get to me!! I live in London and it was sent from the other side of the same city never mind state LOL I have had two packets sent by the same dealer on the same day from the US one got here in a week the other a month!!
Now as for making a paypal claim allways give the seller time. it is not allways something that they can control.

On to the Insults been flying around here today CUT IT OUT FOLKS

Check this out, I live in Illlinois and my 2009 mint set from the U.S mint was shipped from Indianapolis that is 187 miles from my house. Over the next five days I tracked it to 3 other terminals that were all farther away than where it started. Then Fedex turned it over to the USPS and I lost all confidence. Long story short I got it 7 days after it was a mere 187 miles from my house!!!!:headbang:

Frankly I believe a lot of people post off stuff here that they would never do in a conversation. Just ignore it, it is not worth the upset, and frankly, there really are more important things in life than some off base opinion of someone hiding behind a computer screen. If need be, you can go into your settings in the UserCP and choose to ignore their posts.

It is far better, far more impressive, to rise above the fray and not join the pit of ignominy that some are seemingly here for.

My mistake, right you are. I still personally feel the lag time between the item being paid for and the actual ship date is unsatisfactory. As it is, I would wait until the 23rd. If by than the item has not arrived, contact the seller, get a shipping confirmation or report the problem to PayPal.

    Well said and second this.

I only give a seller about 2 weeks before I am asking questions. And I would leave a negative for anyone who did not clearly state in their auction that they only mail once a week - and then took longer than 7 days to ship something. As a buyer I hold the seller responsible for getting me the object in a reasonable time frame - 2 weeks is usually enough. Fair or not - that is how I am. I pay promptly I expect the same in return(based off what is stated in the auction). I also tend to skip auctions where people put all those extra disclaimers in the auction - and I really chuckle at the ones that mention once it is in the USPS hands it is their responsibility. Get real! I hold the seller responsibile for getting me the item. And you know what - the only two problems I have ever really had are with two of my favorite sellers(neither on ebay). One required a claim and the other made up for forgetting to ship the item. Just my opinion.

When you report the "problem" to payPoo they give the seller an excessive 10 days to respond. I found this out when I filed the payPoo claim for my lousy transaction for a banknote. Only at the end of the ten days, and then when I left a negative to the seller did they bother to respond. And offered no reason for non-communication other than they thought I could just wait! :mouth:

And the irony, they want the negative removed, because I got the item after waiting about three weeks, after trying to contact them through fleaBay, and thence through payPoo.

One of the problems, When you buy and sell there, Your toatlly at
There mersy and most of the time you come away as a loser!!

Heres an excellent example of what happened to me! I sold a DVR for
Dish network that i owned and was deactivated by Dish i had a ton
Of pre loaded movies on it, So the buyer called dish and wanted to
Activate it, Because there was a actavation fee he wanted me to
    Pay it!!!

When i refused, He filed a claim, Not only got his $400 dollars back
But also kept the DVR!!! Talk about wrong, But this happens everyday!!
