I had a similar situation last month with a seller of a Russian note, I paid right on close of the auction then heard nothing, received nothing - for two weeks. For the next week I tried to contact the seller, in Russian and English, no response. Because they were selling in the USA I presumed they were shipping from the USA. When I got no response after a week of trying I went ahead and filed the claim with payPoo and then they notified the seller of the claim. She still never responded. The only way I could get her to respond was when I left the negative on fleaBay - then I heard from the seller right away. Then they got around to sending the note finally, and wanted the negative removed and the funds released. I released the funds, but I have to let the negative stand, because they never bothered to communicate until they got the neg. When she complained about the negative she said she thought I could just wait for the note... if she had just asked I wouldn't have had a problem, fairly low value note - but she never bothered to ask. In this case she had 400+ positives without a strike, what a ridiculous reason to lose a perfect 100% feedback score, but I felt like my patience was abused by their obtrusiveness. I notice that good sellers are always awesome about communicating through acknowledging your purchase and payment, and letting you know when it shipped.
It's what's called a figure of speech. Don't take it literally ...ROFLMFAO. Considering your irrational rant, it couldn't be more on point. Bummer.
I would agree, but then they really need to notify you via the auction text or by email that there might be a delay in shipping to avoid questions and potential hassles. Sometimes stuff will come up while you are selling, for instance I have had deaths in the family etc and had to delay a couple of days but I let the buyers know why.
Is this kind of behavior really non-moderated here or do some people just get to use personal insults whenever they feel like? If it's "irrational", then why are people discussing it? Obviously it's a subject worth debating and has merit to other users, as there are discussing it.
It's irrational because you are jumping to conclusions that are not based in reality. Ok ..so you aren't happy with the service but it's unreasonable to think the worst without any facts to back you up. There has been no personal attack. But you seem to be to worked up into a tizzy to realize that. I'm offended by your attack and very dissapointed in your behavior. There is no reason not to be civil. Please don't bid on any of my auctions ...geesh. Consider yourself reported.
Everyone was having a polite debate about promptness/excusable lateness of shipping items on Ebay. What attack?
I work a full-time job, a part-time job, and do eBay on the side. Sometimes it takes 3-5 days for me to get the coin shipped out. If it is a cheap coin, I always ship it the cheapest way, so the buyer gets the best deal possible. It can take 2 weeks for the buyer to receive the coin. I have 600 feedback, 100% positive. If someone gave me negative feedback and reported me to Paypal this quickly, I would have a fit!!! Does anyone remember doing coin deals via snail mail? It used to take forever!!! Be patient and give it some more time.
Miss Sasha, please be patient, your order will arrive. Don't pay any attention to the mouthpieces, its not worth it. Its not hard to figure out who's full of hot air.
Andrew, how would you be feeling if an EBAY purchase of yours ( regardless of value ) took 16 + days for you to receive the item ? That my friend is just simply POOR!
I'm with the cooler heads here. The seller shipped within 4-5 business days of payment. It's since been only 5 business days since shipment. I bet you have your item in hand by weeks end! I buy and sell, and from both standpoints those time-frames seem perfectly reasonable to me. Now what is NOT reasonable, is for a seller to dismiss a buyer. I wasn't privy to that communication though, so I'll not judge it at this point.
As a rule of thumb I always give a month for something to show up if it takes 3 weeks or more coming from near me they get a neutral or negative but I would wait 30 days to file a complaint.
Well said :thumb:. Andrew289 could have made the same point in a more appropriate way. Perhaps he's had problems with buyers in the past and is having a flashback. Btw, I just read where eBay reported a 29% decline in profits for the 3rd quarter...get ready for some higher fees!!
Did this person's feedback mention slow delivery? There are many Ebayers that aren't pros and sell on a casual basis. Some of these people are type B personalities and don't mind taking their sweet time delivering. Also if the item is a low margin item, they may ship it the slowest way possible. The time does seem inordinately long, but I don't know that I'd be worried just yet. Review their feedback and look at what they've sold in the past, it may give you a clue to their intentions. For $5.00, it just has to be sloth. PG
I normally give them no more than 2 weeks, but I have never seen one that tells you it is going to take 3+ weeks. I do not think that you have any choice but to wait. That being said, I see no reason to give him a positive feedback, but do nothing until AFTER you receive it. If it was not mailed the 15th, I would give him a negative for sure. BTW, I once mailed an envelope to NYC. It got to NJ in about 2 days and spent the next 3 weeks going back and forth between NJ and NYC - the same offices on both ends. It finally went to Harrisburg (?), NJ, and got delivered the next day. I am not exaggerating. It took nearly 4 weeks to deliver. When out postal worker printed out its tracking, she could not believe nor explain what she was seeing.
The problem is, this isn't snail mail. I've mostly been a buyer on ebay but I have also been a seller occasionally. More than most I'll say. I've never had any problem as a seller. I always keep people happy. I've been on that side. It's not that hard replying to somebody's PM or e-mail! You have to let people know what's going on at least. They usually don't even have to with me because I keep them informed *before they ask*. And I've shipped A LOT more complicated things than a coin. As a buyer, I expect the same quality of service I give to people. If I haven't received something within 3 days after paying, I start getting irritated. I really expect items to arrive on the third day. After 4 days I'm getting really ansy and will ask when the seller shipped and why I don't have it yet. For anything that can be dropped in a small envelope and shipped out in less than a minute, a 5 day wait after paying by paypal is unacceptable to me unless a good reason is stated in the auction as to why. The post office isn't THAT bad. If it takes over a week, I give the seller one star and sometimes mention how many days it took to receive item in their feedback. I've left negatives over unnecessary wait time coupled with lack of communication. That's what they earned. And unless you're shipping a truck engine, parcel post should never be considered an option. I mean, what's the point? Using that service is about the most inconsiderate, cheapest, riskiest, pointless, thing a seller could do.
I'm not sure your calculation of days is correct. Auction ended on the 6th, payment made on the 6th. Seller stated he /she shipped on the 15th, today is the 22nd and shipment has not arrived. why the 9 day delay from the time the auction ended and item was paid for in shipping the item out?If the seller did ship on the 15th as stated he/she did , it does not take an entire week + for this item to come from new jersey to new york. What's wrong with this picture?
My comments about e-bay and there live in sister pay-pal are X-rated!! As a buyer your confused! As a seller you get edited!
Lol NY is a mess. I have watched the tracking on some of my packages go back and fourth between two post offices 2 or 3 times :desk:. I once had a package shipped from NYC, about 50 miles from my house, take 2 weeks. So Sasha, I would say just wait it out, it should arrive soon enough. Just when the package arrives check the postmarked date on it, see if he was telling the truth about when he shipped it.
