Not too bad, and I bet you had a great time looking through them! Did you check that 1888 IH for 8/7 variety?
So true. What other varieties lurke in these un-seen(by us) coins - time to get your cherry pickers guide out yorkiedad. Make sure the 1912 liberty nickel does not have a mint mark. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head - and I would have to bend down to pick up my cherry pickers guide.
Well, depending on how they grade out, it could have been worse. Where do the Indian heads and V Nickels grade? The Lincolns are all high mintages. The 44 nickel is worth about 0.40 in VF. The over-sized Kennedy half is probably a novelty piece. The bi-centenials are worth face. The big question is, would you do it again? Was it worth the $26 gamble? I bought a nice rose toned, maybe MS-65, 1950-D nickel with awesome luster at the show on Sunday for $22.00. But whatever floats your boat!
whats a 8/7 variety? what if the 1912 nickel has a mint mark? have to go check now. the first pic i will put up is of the half dollars
Overdate variet. The last 8 in the date was punched over a 7. Not very obvious though and very hard to spot. I'd post a closeup of the date and let the experts see it. If the 1912 is an S it's worth about $150 in G-4.
here are the half dollars and the v nickel--, you know what I think it was just an optical illusion with the halfs, they look the same now, also the 1912 does have the (D) mint mark-- does that mean anything? still a rookie guys so you will get alot of questions, thanks--BILL-- and oh ya, this was so much fun , I will definitly do it again-- sorry the indian head was an 1989, not 88 sry
The D mint mark makes it worth more than no mint mark. On the obverse can you read any letters in "liberty?"
Okay. Just trying to get a rough idea of a grade. So I'd say the 1912-D Liberty is worth $3-4. Let's tally up the others!
this is for MARK h--- here is a pic of all the coins, let me know if you want close ups on them------ how about this little piece of copper from canada? its says 1 gram, .999 pure copper. how much for this little thing?
I say: Purchasing some coins on Ebay-$26. Getting to look them over and share with friends on Coin Talk-Priceless.
you are very right, jallengomez, sharing this adventure with my friends here makes it all worth while and very enjoyable for me. and to think we just started. I will need all the help I can get because all I know are pennies, and I dont know alot about them either.--BILL this pic will zoom in
You're right on both counts. My mistake. As far as the copper bar goes, it looks like copper is $2.93/lb today. 1 gram of copper = 0.0022 lbs. Going by spot, it's worth $0.06. You'd think they would lose money making those things.
It's just cool to me though. I'd pay a buck for it! Never seen a copper bar before. Must have been made when copper was at record levels.
