I've been wondering, since all the hassle is out of the way and most of us are waiting on our sets. Is anyone already thinking about selling their set? Now I don't want anyone throwing flames at me but I've been thinking, when ppl get their sets. All you gotta do is keep an eye on ebay and I am certain you will see buyers paying $300 a set, easy. Also, I'm thinking ahead and I haven't made up my mind yet but a quick $200 and change profit sounds really good to me. Anyone else? I like pennies but I'm more into half dollars. it's just a question... Kiss
if your going to sell, sell QUICK! after the intial craziness... the prices WILL drop! and very hard!
Interesting site, I'll have to check it out when I get home as it disappeared. My work Websense or whatever zapper they're using zaps alot of pics out and other items. Yes, I know some ppl think the price will drop but I personally don't think so at all. I forget what year of proof it was I think it's a 1995. You see what that sells for now, like $3000. I know that had less than 50,000 coins issued but I'm sure there's more Lincoln and penny collectors than ASE's. just my 2 cnts.
There is a difference between the $3000 1995 W silver eagle and this, the silver eagle was only available in with the gold proof set. While the same lincoln cents in the Chronicle sets as these are available in all proof sets, and there are probably a million of those proof sets sold. Unless the packing of Lincoln sets are going to appeciate a lot, there is no way the Chronicle sets are even going to approach $1000
I think that it will drop in value to about $80 by this time next year. I'm hoping that it won't though. I have two sets coming and one individual silver lincoln from earlier this year.
I am not selling unless the price gets really high, like in the $500 range. I think this will make a nice addition to my collection, and it's kind of nice to have something that so many people are coveting. It is kind of strange when you think about it, that it's really only the limited packaging that makes this such a big deal. The coins themselves aren't rare at all.
I have one "In stock & reserved" to keep for myself if I like the set and one "backordered" to sell if the second set arrives and the price of these sets stays up or climbs. If these sets start getting up and staying up in stupid high price territory, then I'll will sell both sets as I am not a collector of 'packaging', and already have the 4 pc. Proof cent set purchased. If prices are up and sets remain in demand, then I probably won't hold the sets past the end of the year.
think of the first year of the now defunct legacy set. It too had coins that were available seperately. The set first sold for much higher premiums then original purchase price. They have since tapered off, and are not available for much less then the top prices. The 1995 ASE, as mentioned, was a much tougher coin to obtain! and was NOT available any other way. That price jumped quick and stayed up there. This set could possibly always sell for a premium over its issue price - but i cannot see how it could stay at a $200 or $300 price tag once the hype is over!
Absolutely!! I'll see how I feel after I see the set but I'm sure the public is gonna go crazy when they see these for real!! Also, I know there's a bunch of ppl that were able to get multiples and fortunately they will be able to make a nice profit and they will also take part in setting the going price... Heck there was even some ppl who were thinking ahead and got a set, just to sell!!
I have three sets on order. I test the waters with one, hold on to another for a while and keep one forever. My thought was to try to get a couple to cover the expense of the one I want to keep. In my mind I see it like this sell the two to pay for one, free coins good.
No way will I sell mine. I am one of the few people who dont already own the proof dollar seperately and for the price it would cost to get one now this is a much better and cooler package.
I stack my pancakes. If I had a few of these sets I'd just stack them up and keep them But I follow the rules and only bought one set
hey I'm all for everyone having a set just the people that waited too long gotta pay more to me for one of my sets! just like I have to pay more for other limited edition sets I couldn't get it's not continuing profit taking down the line...just equalizing profit I have had to give others for coins I wanted
