Hey everyone. As some of you know, I’m new to coin collecting. Anyways I was going thru a bunch of wheaties that I bought and I found a 1953 D and the mint mark is DD. The DD is very clear to see. Sorry but have no way of getting a pic of something so small. My question is: Should I have it graded? The coin is in nice condition. Thanks everyone
No one could guess at it with such details. Go to http://www.coppercoins.com/ and in the left hand column right under search this site, click on Variety search. On the next page it goes to enter, 1953, click on Denver, click on mint mark variety, and find the one the same. That will help a lot. But a general photo of the whole coin will be needed for grading eventually. Please do not expect much for it. Even an uncirculated variety would probably only be between $5- $12, not worth getting slabbed usually. Jim
Found a pic I found some info & a pic on Ken Potter's site. http://koinpro.tripod.com/ErrorVarietyList.htm. The cent looks just at this. Not worth alot right now but thought I'd atleast share the info with everyone. Thanks, Don
I didn't say Welcome to the forum, so will do so now! RPMs are fun to find, but certain years they are so plentiful that their value is not very much. Still it is quite a task to collect a series of them. Glad you did identify yours. Jim
here one other that is close to that one http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1953&die_id=1953d1mm025&die_state=lds
