I recently ordered the 2005 Silver Proof Set from the US Mint, and saw after I made my order that it will not ship until Sept. 20, even though it says "In Stock" right next to it. How can it be in-stock, but not shipping until the 20th? Is it common practice for the Mint to do this (this is my first order from the US Mint)? I know it says to allow 2-3 weeks for delivery, but I thought that was for after shipment...
2005 silver proof set Don't be too discouraged that your set won't ship until the 20th. Most of what I order from the mint on the first day it is offered is immediately on B/O. I have had a 2005 coin and metal set on B/O since 5/26/05, so you're doing pretty good with the 20th as a ship date. If they start moving your date of the 20th backward one day at a time every day, then I would phone the mint. I have found that they usually have plenty of the silver and clad proof sets available well into the following year. Jim
