The mint mark is from culiacan Mexico which should make it significant. Could be one of the first 50 cent pieces made in Mexico and maybe America. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. If you look on ebay you may see another and be able to see how much they go for, nice coin. :thumb:
1881 Mexican 50 Centavos, Culiacan mint. 13.536 g, .903 silver .393 ASW. KM# 407.2 mm:Cn D. F-$15 VF-$30 XF-$60. As Doug said, less than $20.
What about the over-date and doubling? This coin is 1/over slanted 1/over 0 and exhibts hub dubbling.
I really like this one...there's so much going on! :thumb: My first impression was 1/1/0 too. As for hub doubling, something I noticed in REPUBLICA was the different offset between "BL" and the surrounding letters. So I would wonder if the legends were complete on the hub, or if legends on the die were impressed with individual letters?
That stuff is extremely common on a lot of world coinage, particularly that of Mexico. It carries no premium.
