if they gave you an order confirmation then yes they should hold one, don't wait to send your payment, send it expedited mail if you can and do it tomorrow for Monday delivery.

Yes it took me 2 hrs. Between the phone, "We are unable to answer your call at this time......." and the computer I was ready to throw out the window. Same thing by the time I placed my order and received the e mail, I looked at my stat. backorder. So I too am HOPING

    for your consideration

Anyone who does not manage to et the Lincoln Coin & Chronicle set (LN6) will have the chance on the secondary market in buying empty cases when others start to sell them after having coins sent in for grading/slabbing.

An LN6 set will be possible to assemble from the Proof Lincoln Coin and 4 pc. Lincoln Proof set (currently still $7.95 from the Mint) The cases may show up for $10, $20 - $50 on eBay later on... if the LN6 sets remain hot, this may not be much to pay if you can assemble such a set yourself from the parts.

    An important consideration:
    I
f you get any LN6 sets that contain cents with spots, I suggest you do not complain to the Mint and DO NOT send the set back to the Mint. Instead buy the 4 piece Lincoln Proof set with clean coins to replace those in your LN6 set. If you return your LN6 set to the Mint due to spots or other minor problems this would mean you loose the silver proof coin and the case itself, plus shipping costs.

Vess1 brought up the important point for those who may try to assemble an LN6 set from buying empty cases, be sure to get the Mint-style coin capsules that come with that set, especially for the cent coins. This will ensure you have the right fit for the case and all pieces to complete it.

correct me if i am wrong... but i thought the cents in the LN6 set are the copper coins like they were back 100 years ago, where the lincoln cent set is modern metal compisition ....

The LN2 sets are also Proof cents with the 95% composition, same cents as in the LN6.

They also come with the 2009 proof sets. The 95% copper proof cents are not rare.

Thank you much! i was under the impression the 95% composition was only in the chronicles set. For the sake of collectors who are not able to get 1 because of the limited issue... i guess its good news for them to be able to assemble set post sell-out.... at the same time i guess its not good for prices on the secondary market to have the sets be so easily assembled post-sell out lol

to me i guess it doesnt matter - i wont be selling mine :)

Just to play it safe earlier this year I picked up a NGC PR69 UC Lincoln dollar off eBay, seems to me I paid something like $45 for it or so. And added an extra proof cent set when the Mint put those up for sale.

    A little added insurance ;)

It looks like the mint has taken about 65,000 orders since these went on sale and that includes other items. So still have more to go plus they will take additional orders as backup for cancellations.

Yes, and those people are guaranteed to get their merchandise if their credit card goes through, while you just ordered it late (basically sold out), while there is no hype at all on the site, and you are not guaranteed to get your merchandise, as you are on a waiting list.
