I realize this is well known now but I under-estimated this much demand, so fast, without the mint even being sold out yet! You can still purchase these from the mint right now and multitudes of people are fighting for them on ebay for 150, 200, on up to $350!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/09-USMint-LINCO...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item4149b30327 Here, this guy pre-listed them on the 14th for 179.99. After he sold a couple of them, he jacked the price up on the 15th to 349.00. And sold one at that price! The demand on ebay is unbelievable. So many have already sold for 200.00 before people even have them in hand! Who are these buyers? It doesn't make sense, unless these will far surpass the value I suspected they would settle to. Some people must think 200.00 is cheap for another set??
It's nuts but it is what it is. I suspect some buyers are outside the US and don't want to chance sending payment in the form of a check to the US Mint in the mail and not get a set. Maybe if converting from another currency USD$200 isn't such a stretch for someone in EU, UK, AU, etc. to pay. Still doesn't make it just to pre-sell a pre-sodl Mint item, to me.
You can sell anything on ebay. You can even sell common coins in 2x2's with couple proof coins in mint packaging and toss in a couple no date buff nickels and somebody is bound to come along and pay $26.00 for it.
