I have 21 Morgan dollars that were passed down to me. Some of them look like they've been dipped in oil; the backround looks black, but others are almost spotless. I know I didn't clean any of the latter, so is there any way I can tell if any of them have been cleaned.... or do I have pay a grading service?

    Thanx, Lee

Maybe you could post some pics and get help that way or you could go to a dealer and get there opinion.

Most of the time cleaning will leave the coin "lifeless" and without luster...full of marks that look like "bagmarks" a little....but the coin will look washed out..

Post some photos and we will try to help.
