Could use some help with this one!!! Update-Spot on, It is indeed an indian Temple Token, Thanks Update two-The seated figures are rama and sita and below them is hanuman-the monkey god. the standing figures on the other side are rama and laksmana (Hindi Deities) Once I was able to work on the indian angle it took of, I initially thought the writing was sanskrit or ethiopian but the images mistakenly led me to believe them african. Live and learn and thanks Ed
Welcome to the forum Tazman. I haven't a hint what you have, but I've taken the liberty of lightening up the picture to show some detail, so maybe someone else will have better luck.
I doubt that the coin is from SE Asia! It appears to be African from the images of the King and Queen on the picture on the right but also has characters around the edge that look similar to Aztec. Hopefully someone else will know what the coin is and where it is from. Frank
Tbirde,I was going to Google those words but couldn't find any of them weird lookin' letters on my keyboard...LOL
My experience has been that trying to identify coins on google is most often impossible. Often all I find are coins being sold or old auction pages which of course leaves out thousands of coins. The best ways I think is posting on coin forums, sometimes ebay, and the books.
The depiction of what looks like a bare-breasted Queen (woman) in the picture on the right, leads me to believe that the coin is African! I have never seen any depiction of a bare-breasted Queen (woman) on any of the coins or in Religious or Cermonial paintings, carvings or engravings. Frank
I Googled 'Indian temple token' and four of the first ten seemed directly related. Examples: Joelscoins.com Temple token system
