I don't mean to play the devil's advocate role but I still see the fourth leg below it's knee. To me the hoof and ankle are faint but still visible.
Zeke, they are visible. Even if you look in the CPG, my coin looks exactly like the one in there. I really don't think the authenticators at ANACS are wrong. Here check out this link and it may help you understand. http://www.stellacoinnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/1936d_3-half-leg_obv.jpg
That is why it is called "3 & 1/2" leg. Here is a picture of one from Heritage. I think they look nearly identical.
Oh my, oh my, oh my, what did I know. Thanks for the info and links. Wow, just to have one in hand and look at it much less own a '36-D or 37-D "Three and a half legger" is a priviledge. Nice coin.
Zeke, I have to admit, it is quite a feeling when I hold it and say...hey that's mine. But unfortunately not for long. I do need to sell it, which is going to be hard to do, but finances being what they are, that money is better spent on our children than sitting in our house. I will be sure to photograph it though before it goes in case people don't believe me in years to come that I actually had one. It will become my big buffalo story sort of like the big fish story....you know the one that got away. lol Anyways no whining in coin collecting, it is what it is
Sounds like you have your priorities straight, typical New Englander. Ha, ha, me too, originally a nutmegger. Yes it will make a wonderful story and you will able to embellish it year after year with pictures as proof. That's another fun part about coin collecting.
