    Hello,

Please let me know what you think - looks like possibly an older cleaning and I'm thinking an XF40? The hairline on the obverse seems pretty strong. What do you guys think? Absolutely no issue regardless, I'm content with it being original.

I looked at the coin first, then read your description. I was thinking exactly the same as you...cleaned XF40, but I have very limited experience with Peace Dollars. The cleaning seems particularly harsh in the Reverse upper-left quadrant.

I agree- XF 40 with hairlines. Looks like PVC on feathers of reverse or verdigris?

Beyond the XF-40 opinion (which I agree with) any other thoughts regarding your coin are pure speculation.
They require having the coin in-hand.

I'd go a little higher than the XF-40 rage but the slight glare from the plastic makes it appear a little less I think.

Thank you all for your opinions. I'm very much a 'work in progress' when it comes to perfecting my coin images.

Interestingly enough, I bought this with a group of about 8 other peace dollars from an older lady who's husband had them sitting in a dresser draw for many years (after winning them as a kid). I know, don't believe the story etc, but they explained they were just looking to get rid of them - so I didn't see any reason to be suspicious. Perhaps he played with silver polish those many years ago.

The obverse hairlines look pretty strong in person compared to the reverse, which seems to show much more wear.

I'd also place it in the 40-45 range. Too bad about the cleaning.

I would say the high EF range. Also, I would nonabrasively rinse the coin in acetone If it were mine , just in case the green is PCV plasticizer damage from previous storage. But if they were stored loose in a drawer, it is probably environmental.
