Hehe...your right, they were. I just went back and saw that fact but you had already posted. He said the only 95% copper P & D pennies.... "It will contain the only cents from the Philly and Denver mints with 95% cop" I guess i jumped the gun because i (dont tell anyone) was watching the j@ck@$$ liars on HSN this weekend and the tall one said that the unc set had the only 95% copper coins (w/o specifying NON-proof)... so when i thought i saw that repeated here, I wanted to jump in :hail: I landed in cold water Man, i hate those HSN guys (i.e. "Coin Collector"), they are such liars... this weekend they had some Silver Eagle reverse proofs that they claimed to not have had on their show for "probably a year"...I saw them selling them like 3 weeks ago! I watch a) so I can see what they have for sale / see coins i may not know about (you do learn stuff SOMETIMES on the show) b) its interesting to see their prices c) so much fun to constantly catch them being misleading. Though they did have a tempting $49 set of 2009 graded pennies this weekend...luckily I had it recorded, didnt watch live and just assumed they were sold out (because i already blew all my spare money this weekend on CDs & books!). --- Ooops, sorry im off-topic arent i
Hey kris777, a lot us watch HSN sometimes and it's both funny and sad because it gives honest coin dealers and collectors a bad rep. I don't understand why they don't tell the truth. They just want to juke people out of their money. If only the people knew that they can purchase directly from the mint or from online reputable dealers. It would drive these guys out of business.
I got a good feeling about this mint set. No kidding, I'm thinking about jumping in big on this for those pennies.
Mints sets and Question ? I ordered 3 when they came out last week. Just happened to be browsing the site. Does anyone know if they will be offering the Platinum 1 ounce Proof coins this year ? Thanks, Almostgem
Check this out almost. Tears are dropping on my keyboard as I type.... http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=7937
Thanks, looks like "tentatively" for me December 3rd. Also Fractional Gold Eagles. Nice ! This will make the wife very happy to add another 1/10 ounce American eagle to her collection.
Proof platinum are go it seems: United States Mint to Offer 2009 American Buffalo Proof Gold and American Eagle Platinum Proof Coins
stop buying the non-gold and silver coins at the moment. concentrate on gold and silver related items.
Yeah! Lot's of fun PM product to come out now. Hope to get some for my collection. Too bad the mint are ramping up production of 2009 unc halves now. Graded halves have been selling quite well on the secondary market too.
most premium went to 2008 mint products. even the kennedy half. 3,400,000 for 2008 and 3,600,000 for 2009.
As many as they get orders for before theycut off order or the end of the year whichever comes first. And they don't list a number because there is no set limit. And it is NOT like the 2004 sets. The 2004 sets went on sale earlier in the year but they cut off the sales earlier than normal.
Well I imagine a lot of us recieved the UNC sete/s by now. Pretty nice and pleasing to the eye. At least my first set is. The other two should be here today. On close scrutiny some of the coins are mint state specially the Kennedy halves. All have some very minor rim dings. The 'D's' seem in better condition. Less scuff marks on the presidents. Overall I am very satisfied with the condition and packaging of these coins.
I seem to remember that there were nearly 3 MILLION 1970 unc sets made. I know that the last few years had lots and lots of new coins, but ONLY four hundred thousand?
70 mint set was just over 2 million, and most of the recent years sets have been between one and two million, usually closer to one million. So 400,000 sets in two weeks isn't too bad. Frankly it is lower than I expected.
I've already broke one up for my albums. I think I may do this from now on so I don't have keep scanning pocket change. THe satin finish Kennedys are really nice this year.
