I went to my local coin store today and asked the owner if he had any Indian cents in bulk. I told him that I was filling a book and had a list of the one that I needed. He had a small bag that he was saving for somebody but they hadn't been there to pick it up for several months and said that I could search through it. I found severl that I needed including, a 1862,1866,1867,1873,1874,1875,1879, 1884,1885,1886,1894,1909p x3, and the best of all a 1908s. All for the low price of a dollar apeice. I about lost it when I saw the 1908s. They are mostly goods to fines, but the 08s may be better than that.
That's one of those "deals of a lifetime". Check the normal prices on those dates and you'll be a very happy collector.
It must have been great fun searching through a bag and finding so many coins to fill so many holes. It must have been difficult to keep a straight face when you found the S-mint coin. Congrats. Please post a photograph of the collection.
some people are just lucky. if they are in any kind of good condition you just scored a major hit for a dollar a coin. *sigh* some people have all the luck.
Congrats...that is the kind of stuff most collectors only dream about. Boy, I thought I was lucky when I was given an 1896 for free last month!
I went down to the coin store again wednesday, and asked the owner if he had put anything in the bargin box, and he said " oh just a bag of indian cents." I went over and found it out of the box, and there was about 20-25 indians in it, all for $5. I bought it and took them home, looked throught hem and found nothing interesting. most of them were crusty or damaged, but I still thought it was a good buy.
