I'm re-asking you guys this question, posed by a Canadian friend, but asked to hockey fans, not coin collectors. my questions: Are these coins circulating commemms like state quarters ? Is the mintage really only 10k pieces ? .......................................................................................................... original question: Investment or gimmick? Canadian Mint coins roll of 25 $1 coins celebrating 100 years of HABS (46.95): http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/montre...009-prod570001 roll of 40 $0.25 cent coins celebrating 2010 olympic hockey (16.95): http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/25cent...007-prod330004 (I'm sure this could be worth more if Canada wins gold!) 6 Montreal Canadian commemorative $0.50 cent coins (59.95): http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/montre...atId=cat210014 Im wondering if anyone thinks these may be worth then they are being sold for today in a decade or so. NOTE: the 6 canadian coins are on sale this week at a local sore for 7.95 each which comes to $47.70, however, you dont get the collectors folder that holds them all.
Well just lately The Canadian Mint started the Vancouver 2010 Olypic Coin Program! Altogether in this collection there are 4 quarters with a hockey scene in this series. Including: Ice hockey (released:April 4th 07), Men's Ice hockey (released:September 29th 09), Womens Ice Hockey (Released:Nov.17th 09) and Ice Sledge Hockey (realesed:March 8th 2010) For each quarter there were 22,000,000 minted!
This's a tough one; I'm an ex-hockey playing coin collector and I like the Canadian products. But it all starts looking Franklin Minty to me.
I think this man is totally asking about investment potential of these coins. Maybe somebody can answer the question phrased this way: " If I bought most all RCM products offered over the last 10-20 years ( I think it would be safe to eliminate oddball stuff like that 10 kg ( or whatever of gold coin, that was the size of a dinner plate, probably kill all the gold offerings, in fact) how would my investment be doing now, eh ?
