I was thinking wouldn't it be interesting if you could take one of those say 1800's something coins with a finger print on it and give it to CSI and have them check to if it was say Lincoln's finger print I mean you know they have it on file. Anyway I guess I had too much idol time last night to be thinking of someting like that.
Well I know, but you have to think they put together enough items to compare finger prints to say with some certainty that this is Abe's thumb based on all the artifacts they have of his. Oh well it was just random thinking.
I understand. I've often wondered who held the coins I now have. Some early cents from the early 1800's had to have passed through a lot of hands, and a lot of stories. You're not alone in wondering where things have been. Guy~
I bought some coins in northfield mn. I wonder if they passed thru the last bank jesse james robbed. If only coins could talk!!
Nice idea Kent. Suppose it only matters if the prints are recorded on record and available for your use. Here's some things Google turned up on Fingerprinting: History of Fingerprinting WIKI: History & Validity
Yep. A lot of folks prefer circulated coins for that reason. And the fact that uncirculated cents from the 1800's cost many thousands of dollars. There's always that little detail...
LOL - well not all of them. And even then it makes you wonder who kept it uncirculated until you acquired the coin.
Since I was born and raised in Chicago and Cicero , Al Capones headquarters , I always wonder about the coins from the teens , twenties and thirties . Of course the older coins facinate me too , Revolution and Cival war eras . rzage
