http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e.../1854OBV-3.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e.../1854REV-3.jpg I just purchased my first Large Cent I think it is a beauty I don't have the coin in hand but I can't wait. Your opinions on grade are welcome and encouraged, but I like it so you can't hurt my feelings. I would like to know what you think. Thanks Kent

And you should! :high5: The coin shows absolute minimal wear, if any, and looks like a strong strike! :eat: Great job!
That looks to me like a $150 coin (raw). Love the chocolate brown. What's the variety? (Newcomb number)?
The coin looks sharp in the photos, but it the lighting is a bit dark to make a solid judgement. There is something going on with the reverse rim on top, not sure if it's a nick or a strike problem. Looks like a nice cent to me.
That rim ding on the reverse is from the mint I don't think it is post mint at all. I don't know anything about the newcomb numbers what are they?
Part of the strangeness might be the lighting. But another factor might be this - I think the coin was dipped or cleaned, then recolored. A coin with that much meat should have plenty of luster and there is none; those aren't original surfaces. It's lost some skin. It's really well struck, probably mint state, and I think middle die state, maybe a little earlier. Would love to see the reverse. Is it just me, or have we seen this coin elsewhere recently ? It has a distinctive look.
A real nice coin, I used making the grade photo guide to grade, and I think it is a pretty good ef, a little problem with the rim damage on the reverse, but accentuating the positive I would think it would not hurt its value much.
The strike seems uncharacteristically strong. Especially around the "L" in the Coronet. Awsome detail, though. There seems to be a little rub on the shoulder curl. I would really like to see the Reverse if you can get the link working.
