Two questions in one post, feel free to answer one or any combination you want. :smile

Is it true that the US Mint is holding off selling the 2009 ASE Proofs because this 2008 set is still being sold?

I bought this 2008 set and I'm wondering if I should remove the coins from the packaging? I'm concerned of unappealing toning that may occur from the president coins or the packaging being enclosed next to the ASE.

Question 1. Highly doubtful. I'm frankly amazed that this issue hasn't sold out.

Question 2. Haven't experienced any toning in my sets but if you're worried about toning in the future, by all means remove the coins from their original holder and place them in air tites. I personally like to keep 'em in OGP regardless of what happens.....:)

I would agree : keep them in OGP. The appeal is much greater for the complete set than if broken apart. My 2 sets are still sealed in the outer plastic wrap. If the paper packaging is non reactive this should be OK.

never break up an original set with box and certificate nor send any coin for slabbing. i only buy original. and buy directly from the u.s. mint.
