Few nationalist movements have ever been so led, so determined, such a force to be reckoned with, that believed in peaceful non-violence as a more powerful weapon in achieving their goals as the campaign initiated by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, India.

A great man whom aspired at times to live to be 100 years old, his life was cut down by an assassin's bullet at 78 years. But his influence lasted well beyond his mere 78 years, indeed, he has influenced notables such as Lech Walesa, Martin Luther King, and Vaclav Havel in their struggles against seemingly immovable and incorrigible regimes.

India has honoured Mr. Gandhi by the placement of his image on her banknotes:

Few men, are worthy of such honours. Politicians are featured prominently on the banknotes of many countries, but their individual achievements pale in comparison to Mr. Gandhi's.

Beautiful notes. Certainly a man worthy of being honored in this way.

  4. You can tell he's a man worthy of honor just because of the fact that he's the only non-female to get your special cropping effect :)
