Got 2 Ikes from the bank today! '71 and '74.

A question for the august and erudite members of the forum: Is there merit in assuming that the current economic downturn could, in fact, result in more older coins being rolled---that is loose change, jars of coins, old caches, being submitted to banks for face value, when in fact there could be a number of rare coins amongst those accumulated for the sake of completing a roll?

 

Bank Run

Ok, had some time today so went on a bank run. My last few boxes have been empty so I wanted to mix it up. Went to 16 banks. 12 of them had halves ranges from $1 to $470. I came home with $962 ($850 rolled and $112 loose).

3 Chase banks I know of will order halves and $2's for me. Have to order in $2000 increments usually though. Try that.

 

Found 1 40%er out of $150 ish. But I found these also http://www.cointalk.com/t66215-2/#post701060.

 

Went to the bank they had nine rolls of halves not customer but bank wrapped. I didn't find any SILVER or PROOFS or any non circulated dates from the 2000's but I found 26 bicentinials in 9 rolls I know they are only 50cents each but found that odd.

Was in Austin on business and finished around 2p. So I drove around and could only find 2 banks!! 4 dollars of halves yielded nothing. I then stoped a several banks in small towns in between Austin and Houston since several people have mentioned they have great luck at small town banks. Nothin. On the outskirts of Houston, I did find one bank with 62 dollars worth of loose halves in a bag.

About $400 in halves found 4 %40 halves and 2 1987-D halves my 4 boxes are in cannot wait to go through them!

 

1 box down 4 to go. Nothing to report.

 

Yeah, but how much gas did blow through driving around to find em? I do the same thing though.
