Those pictures are horrid; the coin needed to be taken out of the flip for photographing! I cannot tell what is what. I don't have any references for SBA varieties on hand to check. He does say "Doubled Die" as opposed to "Double Die" but, as there isn't a CONECA (or any other) attribution number, it is likely not a DDR. Can anyone else tell?

Wow and at a reduced price. It does look like die deterioration to me. Lousy pictures.

Well it ain't a doublED die - this is another one we see all the time

Well it ain't no doublED die - this is another one we see all the time along with 1980's Roosevelt Dimes, modern quarters with squwashed up mottos, and let never forget that famous 1955 with the last 5 doubled and a die crack - there is no reforming eBay, it's a sellers market with the company catering to the seller alone.
I cannot miss a chance to bash eBay because of the numbers of times new people bring me junk they got off there assuming it was a true die variety only to be told they got nothing.
Ebay alone is probably responcible for hundreds of new collectors that would have got involved with die varieties and then got burned and have left before they even got started.
Ebay is history, nobody I know buys from there, the people that sell say it is way down - they are arbitrary and self serving to the exclusion of the buyers.

Many will say "Oh your not talkng about eBay your talking about the sellers on eBay". They are one and the same. There are three participants on eBay, ebay itself and the sellers and guess who's third???

i can't believe it, it's so obviously not a doubled die. i have 75.00 worth of SBA's i'm going through right now and before i go through them i want to be aware of known errors to look for.. i googled susan b anthony errors and stumbled on the wonderful (not) ebay auction previously listed above. does anyone know where i can get a good online guide of known errors of the SBA dollar?? i know about the wide rim error is there any others?
    thanks,
    Penny

Just try and go through as much as you can, put the question coins to the side and wait. As you progress you will likely find other examples of the same anomalies and be able to answer some of your own questions. As far as SBA varieties are concerned you may have to buy a few books. Be prepared to go through all $75 again in a few weeks as you learn more and more about them.

Stay away from any eBay references. At least 50% (if not more) of all doubled coins on eBay are garbage.

You're probably right about the DDD. Their other coins vary. The errors look correct but the other doubled dies, do not. The fact that the auctions are private and the coins are shot deceptively through the flip, leads me to strongly suggest one stay clear of their doubled coins.

...except that is, a nickel they have in a ANACS holder that is also a split planchet. If genuine, that would be very interesting.

I'd stay from this guy's accuracy. He's got a 1921 Peace which he calls a Vam#2-R which as the vam site say's is (Eliminated, doubling on PEACE is strike or machine doubling.)

so far (only looking through 15 SBA's) i've found two just like the one the ebay seller has listed... i'm not being judgemental of the ebay seller but i would never list something so expense and claim it was something without doing research... any simple research would have shown it was DDD..
here's the two i just found in my stash:

Remember: if anyone buys that SBA on eBay, it is half the buyer's fault for not knowing what they are doing.

(As long as it is raised metal) it likely a die break within a crack and if you play with the lighting you'll see the rest of the crack.

No additional premium unless the crack was terminal, and even then not much more, a dollar or two.

I you want to find some die varieties sell those dollars

I you want to find some die varieties sell those dollars and get some Lincoln's - there is just not nothing in SBA's worth at darn thing IMO.

Also don't forget about the 1979P Wide Rim, the rim on some is wider, making the date look closer to the rim.

The coin on eBay is indeed exhibiting Die Deterioration Doubling.
