1985 d dime error?

    Just a small note: your coins are not technically off-center errors. They are MAD which means the one of the dies was misaligned where as an off-center strike is created when a planchet is not centered correctly (typically as the collar is stuck) and the whole coin (obverse and reverse) are both struck off-center equally. They are much harder to find than the common MADs that will pop up constantly.

    1985 Dime

    Do the dimes vary in size like this? I do not have scales...it is almost as thick as a penny. I will take a pic of it with a penny and show you. :eek:dd:

    You will find that the weight is normal, the dime on the left is just the result of a very strong strike. The higher the striking pressure the better the edge and rims fill in resulting in a "thicker" coin at the edge.

    You see the same things in Half Dollars all the time. Some look so much thicker than others, but it is just a full rim.

    I have a dime like this but it's on both sides of it and on the back of it nearly all of the letters are 50% or more missing what is this? Also it is a 1985 d

    Oh and on the head there is a very noticeable smooth spot that takes up most of the hair my phone camera dose not work currently so i cant send pics but im not finding anything like it online
