My second post! I went to a local coin store today. I didn't find what I was looking for in the ASE's. I picked up a box of paper 2x2's determined to sort through our coins. I thought it would keep the son busy for a while. When I got home from work we gathered and sorted through a few socks and a small 5x5x3 box. My son had was entertained for some about an hour. We still have work to do. What we put in the little paper holders tonight: 1 1850 One Cent. 12 Franklin half dollars; 1-1950, 1957, 1959 2-1951, 1952, 1953, 3-1954 24 Walking half dollars; 1-1917, 1920, 1935, 1936, 1940, 2-1944, 3-1941, 4-1942 and 6-1945 10 Peace dollars; 2-1923, 3-1925, 5-1922 13 Morgan dollar; 1-1885 & 1901, 2-1902, 5-1900 & 1921 Most are beat up. A couple are nice. All the walking half dollars have seen better days. Same with the one cent. A couple of the peace and morgans are nice though. Some even have that tone a few of the threads talk about. Most of the Franklin are in nice shape because they were in rolls someone put together. Hopefully the boy will be as entertained when we get to the rest. He likes to stack, hand me a coin and staple! There are a lot of silver half dollars, quarters and dimes to do from tonight with two coffee cans, a small bank and two more socks to go.
Sounds like you guys are havin' a ball. So how's about posting some pics? We'd love to see 'em....:smile
I will try. I'll pick the nicest or most detailed peace dollar and a morgan where I can see the thistle petals. Well I guess they are thistles with slight lines to be the puffy blooms. A few have an "O" or "S" mark. Most unmarked.
I hope this link works. They photos are a bit out of focus. But these looked the best of the coins so far. http://picasaweb.google.com/sandskoetting/SilverCoins?feat=directlink
