No, it was from a Lanz Auction/ around 2012 But, i got a lot of nice coins from New York Sale aiuctions too! John
Back in the good ole days of the NHL, the Canadiens teams that won 5 cups in a row 1954-59 was not as good as the team that won four straight 1975-79. You had Lafleur/Shutt/Lemaire !st line 2nd line Peter and Frank Mahovilich/ centered by Cornoyner Third line/ Tremblay/ Riseborough/ Lambert Defence/ Robinson/ Savard/ Lapointe/ Bouchard Dryden in nets They probably had St. Peter on their bench. NHL hockey is so diluted now..... Best player ever/ "The Rocket"
I was always a Rangers fan, but I also liked the Canadiens back then -- such a great team, with Guy Lafleur and all the rest, and fun to root for.
Yes, the Rangers had some amazing teams too. I love "your" New York Yankees baseball teams. They where almost perfect in the 1950s.
Before my time in terms of watching them, but I used to read about them as a child. Yes, they won 14 pennants in 16 years from 1949-64 -- every year except '54 and '59 -- even though they won "only" 9 of the 14 World Series. I did get to see Mickey Mantle play in person a number of times in his last couple of years. He wasn't really himself anymore, but he did hit a home run in the first game my father ever took me to, in 1967.
Well, it is now St. Patrick's Day and I found my St. Patrick halfpenny (small variety). For some reason, I paid €30 for this For what it's supposed to look like, see here... https://oldcurrencyexchange.com/2015/05/14/obrien-coin-guide-the-anonymous-st-patricks-halfpennies/ I should get a better one Happy St Patrick's Day! The Irish people rarely get the respect they deserve - across the USA and Canada. We are not the same nation without them..
My father used to say "if it weren't for whiskey, the Irish would rule the world". I see the hand of the Irish almost everywhere I've been.
