Have just run into the ANGS rating service. Does anyone have anything good to say about this company? It seems to be the personal service for a seller called Hertel's Coins. Most of his coins are rated with this company. I'm just not getting a warm fuzzy feeling from this kind of set up.
Good advice above....here is a link to help you ID third party graders. http://coinauctionshelp.com/page16.html Myself I prefer the PGGS, that's the Penny Guy Grading Service...
Yeah OK, but if the guy is still ripping people off after all this time, seems to me it's good idea to remind folks about it ! My point is this, just because a thread is old, that doesn't mean that it's not still pertinent, not still worth talking about and or repeating, and that it's not important ! After all, the past is what we all learn from. Without it we have no hope for the future at all.
FWIW, it kind of looks like Hertel's Coins has either changed ownership or shifted their business model. Their physical address has changed from a rural IL town to outside of Chicago. They are no longer selling ANGS coins from their proxibid portal, and they now have NGC and PCGS coins. Hopefully, this is the end of ANGS completely.
NGC and PCGS are the top tier, followed closely by ANACS and ICG. Other than those, don't trust a darn thing they say.
