Taking care of your tellers sure helps!!!

I went to the bank today and they said they had been saving something for me. A woman brought in some old cent rolls after her father passed and the teller even told her that she might want to look through them. She said she didn't have time and turned them in.

 I therefore bought all 31 rolls plus one rolls of nickels. The nickels were all 40s and 50s. I believe all of the cent rolls are wheat. I've only opened a couple so far and all were circulated and brown. Many of the others have written on the roll: 3 47, 7 48, 2 51, etc. The oldest note is a 27, but most appear to be in the 40s and 50s. Even if most are 40s and 50s and are not gems, 1550 wheat cents at face is not bad!! :eat:

I'll post more when I look through them. My son wants to help so it will probably be this weekend.....but I had to tell someone!

Because I had received some great help from the teller at this bank, I sent her manager a thank you note with gourmet brownies to present to declaring her to the best teller in town. They save everthing for me now.

    It pays to smooge!

I sorted through all of these wheaties by grouping them in dates and this is what I found:

One roll of 60s and 70s cents. The rest were indeed wheats except for 2 50s canadian cents, and 4 other 60s cents. So, I got 1494 total wheats.

All were well circulated. Most in the 50s and 40s (nearly evenly distributed), including 13 Steel 1943 cents (all have rust on them though :( )
Cents prior to that are as follows:
    39d
    39
    38d
    38
    37s
    37d
    36d
    4 36
    35s
    34d
    34
    30d
    29
    27d
    27
    20
    2 1919
    18
    17d
    17
    16d
    12
    10

and 2 that I couldn't quite identify. One looks like 1913 and the other 1910

No great dates, but quite a few really nice ones. Plus, all those wheats for face. What a nice find! :D :) :D

Thanks Travis (and good to see ya!).

Now, I have to look for error and DDs. I'm not familiar with what to look for in these older cents, that is why I grouped them in years. I have the Striking it Rich With Pocket Change book and will look in there and then start a searchin!

    Lookin forward to it.
