toning is just environmental damage IMO and should be frowned upon as much as cleaning.

Borgovan, I aquired a number of old Whitmans from my Mother in law, that were hers when she was younger, ( she's 90 now ) and many of the Barbers, Dime, Quarter, and Halves have the ugly black splotches on them. Toning, crud, whatever you want to call it, it's there. These are low end circulated coins, but some are scarce dates. You'll never know what could be in the books that made these coins turn, but they sure turned ugly.

I know a good way to tone a coin:

Eat a lot of mexican food and then store the coin in your butt cheeks for a few months (dont take it out!!)...sqeeze hard so it doesnt rub against your underwear because as we all know, the cotton in your underwear could scrape the surface.

You will have a great toned coin in no time. :)

Awww...that's pretty stereotypical, don't you think?

I mean, I might be a big boy, but that doesn't mean that all coin collectors are big boys.

Sure, some of us live in mother's basement, and have never had a date, and watch American Idol wishing to hook up with Susan Boyle, but that doesn't mean....
