Yep - the pictures make the bag marks look a little bad to me for a 66. Compare it to some on Heritage - it could just be the pictures. The one that sticks out in my mind in the one to the right on the reverse of the eagles wing. The coins does look very lusterous through the glare on the photos. In my opinion I would pass on this one - please wait for more opinions.

I wouldn't go close to $1000, but it would be OK for less IMO.

    Yes, you would be crazy:

I'am no expert in coin grading but I don't know how that morgan got a 66 from the graders , think I would pass.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I really have to concur, although those pictures aren't that great, they definitely make the coin appear to be a 65.

Usually coin in old holder will go higher, i am pretty sure it will go over $1k, probably at least $1100

Too many marks for a 66 but the lighting is wrong and it is washing out the coin. I think the luster is very strong, and those bag marks are much less than they seem. The lighting is blowing up the flaws in an unnatural way. I think I would pass, secondary to no return policy.

While there was a time that that was true - it is true no longer. Pretty much all of the coins still in older holders are there because the coin was over-graded to begin with and everybody who knows coins can easily see that. That's why they are not re-submitted, because they know the coin would be down-graded.

PCGS used to give CC Morgans and extra half-point boost because they're usually very baggy. IMO this coin appears to have benefited from that policy, so no I wouldn't a grand for it.

It's a great coin, just not for the money.

    +1

And this seller is a pro. He's not likely to leave any money on the table.

Combine that with a "no return" policy, and I think anyone who bids on this coin would be taking a huge risk with the odds stacked against them.

That's my big thing. If the dealer doesn't stand behind their product I don't buy it. I wouldn't even bid on this coin. Plus, GD is right. The vast majority of the old slabs that would upgrade have already been resubmitted. The coins remaining (for the most part) in old slabs won't get that bump.

Poor pictures, slab is from 1990 - 1995.

That same statement or language to that effect is in the terms of sale of all of the major auction houses as well.

People who buy and sell and try to make profit might do it, but not everyone.

Sometimes I see auction dealer will list a person's complete coin for sale, all coins from that person are in old slabs. Sometimes people bought coins years ago, and just hold it. People who buy and sell and try to make profit might resubmit coins in hold holders, but not everyone. I have yet to submit raw or resubmit any coin in slab.

Thanks for the input. It is still at 730 but has lots of time left. I have bought plenty from this seller and if push came to shove I would think I could get them to take it back. Before it got to that I would ask for better pics and see if she would send them. If is stays in this range I still might be a player for it.

Do you think it will stay under $800 or even sell for under $800?
