Speaking of IKE's, I just re-imaged my proof CAMEO IKE. I absolutely love this coin. The hazy blue patina gives the illusion that fields really are in space. I can't remember ever seeing a patina that so perfectly compliments the design of a coin. And if that doesn't float your boat, take a look at IKE's eye. Stunning detail.
Leadfoot, Very nice type 3 Ike. I like the way they start that very mild toning. Very hard to capture in photographs. And the toning on the cuni-clad business strikes is different than the toning on the silver strikes. Makes for an interesting album with the different kinds of toning:kewl: jaceravone, I like the 72's not a lot of hits or planchet flaws which is always a good thing with these Ike's. The 76'd looks very good also. :high5: Also the peg leg on the "R" in liberty very cool to find the Ike variety's
Your right the Silver is a bit easier to find not all banged up except for the 1971's which when shipped from the mint were put in large mint bags which means they got pretty well hammered by each other. It was not until the 1972 silver business strikes that they began putting them in tubes instead of mint bags
"Dude!!! You don't need all those! You can chose to share you joy with your fellow IKE collectors...." I thought I was sharing the joy with the photos:hug:LOL I know what ya mean:smile. The few hundred Ike's I have are NOTHING compared to some of the members of the Ike Group. When I first started collecting them I thought how could one person need more than one complete set of them. It did not take me long to realize to date there are no complete sets yet. We are still finding new varieties and errors all the time Now I understand how one collector can have so many of one type of coin. Went from putting together a typical set to a full blown obsession in a short amount of time. Who says obsession isn't good.An Ike nut was born:hatch:
I do not know where you are getting your data from but PCGS has only graded 3 1974-S IKEs as MS69 so the price is a bit high but still valid. Here's my contribution:
