I made it to the show this morning. Was anyone else there? I snapped this pic with the camera on my cell phone: There was very noticeably much fewer people there than the January show. I heard people blaming it on the economy, the nice weather, etc... This place was so packed at the Jan. show that I estimated there were literally a few hundred people packed in the room. You could hardly walk around for that one. Today there was plenty of room. Picked up some great coins today. I was very happy with the selection. I crossed a bunch of stuff off the list. Finally got a MS70 2006 $5 S.F. commemorative, four of maybe the nicest, loose, Franklin halves I've ever found for that set, a 2006 Kookabura for that set, a 'F' 1914-S Barber half for that type set and my favorite of the day was this MS66 1938-D/S buffalo nickel just because I've been wanting one. Been looking at them for a while. This one has what I would call that 'rose toning' (doesn't show up in the pic very well) and was irresistible. I think I found a new avatar. I just love buffalo nickels! All the dealers I met were very friendly and willing to deal based off grey sheet. The inventory some of these people haul there for a one day, 7 hour show is unbelievable.
Vess, I was there. Twice today, I enjoyed it. I was that big dumb looking guy with the sharp looking girl.
I was there; it was my first coin show since, well, probably 2002. I picked up a few Barber halves (1910 - 418,000 mintage and 1911-D - 695,080 mintage) for my mintage collection. I always find it interesting in the variations in grading; I saw AG coins graded as VG at a few booths, and then found one guy who consistently had VG halves as G. (For the record, to me, VG is two and two half letters of LIBERTY present, full rims on both sides, most laurel leaves distinct, and feather detail in the eagle--an E PLURIBUS UNUM fully visible is a plus!) Gold seemed to be going quite well; witnessed several high-volume half-eagle sales going both ways. John
