I haven't done hardly anything with coins all summer, and now I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.
Everytime I see one of your nickels it almost inspires me to collect them :kewl:. that one is purty. stainless
Beautiful coin there borgovan! I love that blue toning, I found a wheatie with blue toning on it about a year ago, was neat!
I saw a totally royal blue nickel, both sides (don't remember the date) at MSNS show. $400 was the tag on it.
I do have a sweet nickel that is completely blue. It is an insanely-electric-neon-bright-blue, solid toning, on both sides. I believe it's a 1964 proof nickel. It is not unusual to see wild toning on proof nickels from the early 1960s. I'll never forget the day I bought it. I was at the Northwest Detroit Coin Club show a couple of years ago, and the price wasn't marked on the coin. I meekly asked the dealer the price. He consulted his greysheet. He thought about it for a minute. He hemmed and hawed. He finally said: "That'll cost you a quarter." One-tenth-of-a-second and twenty-five cents later, one of the most blazing proof nickels I've ever encountered was ensconsed in my personal collection. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
very nice toning on the coin looks really nice. :thumb: i have a bunch of proof nickels from the early sixties that have some really nice blue and purple neon toning. they are still in the mint cellophane and everything some i have taken out and put in whitman set holders
Pretty coin. IMO, Electric blue/red is a very odd color combination for nickel. Frankly, it makes me question the coin's originality, as nickel typically tones a more pale blue like Lehigh's. Regardless, it's a very attractive coin. Honestly and respectfully yours...Mike
