I picked this coin up at the club auction. The owner said he bought it as a RPM #4 P/P which was on the 2X2. He never saw the RPM as his eyes are quite bad. After looking at it, I think it is really RPM#3 P/P. I have no references at hand, but the CONECA site says the RPM 3 has a die clash at the knot ( this ones does but hard to photo) and the RPM 4 has die cracks on both the reverse and the obv. (MDS) which I can't find. Any Jefferson variety specialist that can help? Also the 2x2 indicated 5 steps, but I rarely do Jeffersons, I am not sure. Thanks Jim
Well since there are over 60 RPM's for this date/mintmark. In fact, there are a couple that look close to this, and only a few have pick-up-points! I would have been going for the #4, but you say that you don't see any die cracks. I have listed a die crack from the head to the rim, and also maybe one that goes south from the head of the hair. Check those again, and if you don't find them, and most likley they would be very light, then I would say that it is an RPM#3. Speedy
That's a beautiful Jefferson. Local clubs are a great place to find wonderful coins and great friends. Thanks for sharing.
