That last S VDB looks like a recolored AU coin. Why are you so determined to buy expensive uncertified key dates off of eBay when they are likely messed with? And you already confirmed that this particular seller has already sold you a messed with coin (the cleaned 3-leg which you were lucky he owned up to before shipping). I understand you're trying to find underpriced coins or maybe trying to make some money with a quick flip, but there are lots of opportunities to do that with coins that are certified or from seller who don't consistenly sell messed with coins.
Believe me it's great that you're asking to learn, that's alot more than many folks do when they're getting started and more than I did when I first started buying high dollar coins. :thumb:
I agree with the recent posters--PLEASE don't go buying raw coins costing more than $20 off eBay. Buying certified coins from an eBay seller with 99.5% or better ratings and lots of sales behind him or her is a pretty safe bet, but when you start buying raw key coins from eBay, you may wind up getting burned. Tread carefully....
Once again: Expensive Coin + No Slab = No Interest BTW, here's what PCGS calls a VF-30: Let me be the first to say that if you go by the ANA Guide, this coin is NOT a VF-30. But it's mine and I'm NOT going to send it in for regrading I think it's a fine example of a key/semi-key coin getting a grade boost OR market grading (is that one in the same thing?).
not to get in the middle but I think Webster defines a "trip" as the act of going from one place to another where the sole purpose is to get from here to there and back.
I'm guessing its slang, I've heard the term before. "Dude, you trip me up"...= mess me up I dunno, I think it can have many meanings depending on how you use it.
I agree, I tripped once in the early seventies and I don't think it had any of the above meanings!!!:kewl::kewl:
Let me go one step further, why are you wasteing valueable moments in your life sending rebuttals to a simple humorous comment I made about a subject that was blown way out of proportion in the first place!!! Bub:eat::headbang:
I find humor to be a large part of texting, without humor we could just get this stuff off of fox or cnn. Sorry if I took anything wrong, this is my last comment on this subject. happy collecting!!!:hail:
Ok bubs, take a look - http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-S-VDB-Linc...b0fb&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262#ht_500wt_1182 Now, I don't think it's cleaned. Worth 1800 ? Probably no. If I were to grade, I might Au58? $1575 for that a good deal if one could get it at that price?
It's hard to tell from the photo's if this coin is even genuine.Look at the "B" in "V.D.B" close up on the reverse, ..nevermind, from that one characteristic it looks geniune. You'll have to have someone who specializes in cents look at that, still...The pictures are blurry as well...Too risky.
Based on those pictures you can't tell what it is, or is not. Given that, do you think it would be worthwhile to risk that much money ? Remember now, there are 2 things that are necessary to be successful when buying coins. Either know your coins well enough to be certain about them. Or - know your dealer well enough to have 100% trust in him. Is either of those things true in this case ? If not, then you shouldn't buy it.
obviously lehigh96 you never read back to the beginning to find out how this started. When i was 16 years old in highschool I was called Bubba or bub sometimes because of my size. After a nasty incident in 1976 I spent 112 days in solitary confinement as a juevenile, and got 5 years probation because of the last bub comment that i could take. I am truely sorry if my post caused any harm, but why would you further fuel a fire when I had apologized and dropped the matter.:rolling:
What are you talking about? The beginning of what? How the heck was anybody supposed to know that story? I responded when I saw your post. I did not notice there was another page when I made my post (Sorry!). However, not at any time did I know you were joking. Try using the wink smilie next time and I will know.
